EastView (RUssian Newspaper) Database is Down

Notice of service interruption.
 

The databases and information at
http://online.eastview.com and http://china.eastview.com

Electrical shutdown this weekend and info about stack availablility next week

This weekend: There is one Electrical Shut-down Scheduled to take place from 6:00am to 2:30pm (worst-case scenario, it shouldn't take the full 8 hours). The Electricians will be replacing the panel on the East end of stack level 1, so there will be no power and lights in the east side of level 1 which includes the W-106 Access Services Offices and Break Room. Signage/barricades will be in place to keep patrons out of this area.
Monday June 18th: Level B will be re-opened, and levels BA, 1, W-109 (Diversity Room) and W-203 (A&H East Reading Room) will be closed.
Tentative Schedule for the week of June 25th: W-109 (Diversity Room) and Level BA will be re-opened and levels 1, 1A, and W-203 (A&H East Reading Room) will be closed.
The work in the Central Pattee Stacks continues to be ahead of schedule. The Sprinkler installers have been doing such a great job working ahead on open floors that the Electricians are thinking to do the same (working in small sections of an open stack causing little impact and cleaning these small spaces before moving to the next). I'm hopeful that this will work, as it would go a long way to minimize the time needed to restrict access to any given stack level.

Access to journals on closed floors in Pattee

As construction and renovation continue this summer closing sections of the Pattee stacks, remember patrons can obtain journals and other non-holdable materials from the closed areas by going to the main Lending Services desk where Lending Services staff are available to retrieve these materials for patrons.

For general collection books and other holdable materials on closed floors, patrons can continue to place requests through "I Want It."  If you have any question relating to availability and/or retrieving material(s) from the closed stacks, please feel free to contact Lending Services at 5-5429.

Printed newspapers

Staff,

We are experiencing problems with the printer that prints the Newspaper Direct newspapers.  We will not be able to print any newspapers until the problem is resolved.  Currently, we are missing part of Saturday's issues (depending on the title), as well as Sunday's and Monday's issues.  Until then, please refer patrons to the electronic image newspaper databases for these titles.

Videotape for patron

Hi all,

Just a heads up that a patron, Susana Irene Schneider, will be picking up a VHS videotape that is located on the top-right shelf behind the desk.  I have put a post-it note with her name on it on the tape.  I am expecting her to come and pick it up sometime between Friday and Monday.  If you have any questions about it, please let me know.  Once she comes to pick it up, if the person who is at the desk at that time could put something in the Comments here that it has been picked up, that would be a great update to the rest of the staff that it is gone.
